As I write this I am holding the item in question, it's light, really light and well put together, it does feel like it is of plastic but clearly it is aluminum and there is a steel piece added that allows one to cut along this edge and not damage the ruler; truly it is superb in both weight and function, the 40cm is also handy as it is better than the 20cm or 30cm rulers as it gives just the right kind of length if one is working on comics or something similar and it's good value for money.
