About the Nibs

Perry & Co. Ltd. was a leading English dip pen manufacturer during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Founded by James Perry in 1819, the company pioneered several nib innovations, including designs that mimicked the flexibility of quill pens. In 1828, Perry partnered with Josiah Mason in Birmingham to improve production quality.

Following Perry’s death in 1846, the business became Perry & Co. and went on to win a medal at the 1851 Great Exhibition. In 1876, it became a limited company after merging with Mason’s firm and others. In 1961, Perry & Co. was acquired by British Pens, joining iconic names like John Mitchell and Joseph Gillott.

The company’s legacy is one of craftsmanship, innovation, and a lasting contribution to the art of handwriting.

Whether you’re a curious beginner, seasoned calligrapher, or gifting a piece of history, this kit offers an immersive and nostalgic experience - ideal for journaling, slower-paced writing, or adding charm to your personal correspondence.
