Pale grey when first applied, the ink darkens as it dries - oxidising to a rich, permanent black over several hours.

I had, until this morning, never used 'iron gall' before, although I had read a little about it from established calligraphers who highly rate it, so I decided to give it a go. I really wish I had read about it earlier. What a dream to write with, and fantastic finish. I must say that I am not an experienced 'ink master', but I do have a knack of knowing/realizing quality when I see/use something, as is the case with Simons development of 'Rousy Iron Gall'. So nice to use and perfect consistency straight out the pot. I wii certainly be using it now, more so than the Walnut and Sumi that I usually rely on.
